Seen on: Friday, 7 pm, UTV Bindass Pravesh Rana, who hosts Emotional Atyachar 3, recently said in an interview that this time, auditions would be aired on the show as a lot of people were suspicious that the series was scripted. But we ask, auditions of what? Of actors who are good at their job? Because after watching two episodes of the show that exposes ‘cheaters’ and blows the lid off infidel partners, courtesy a loyalty test done on them over three to four days, we are still plagued by the same question, ‘Is Emotional Atyachaar scripted?’ ‘Is this for real?’ ‘Are these young boys and girls, who claim to be in love and are now heartbroken after the revelations, really care or are they just ‘paid’ actors who don’t mind to go to any lengths for their ‘15 seconds of infamy’? The kind of things the couple in question — where either the girl or the boy does a loyalty test on the other while Rana lends his broad shoulder to them to cry on — talks and the scenes that emerge out of the investigation with lots of help from undercover agents makes you wonder if this is real! Maybe, it is as most often than not, TV shows and films are nothing but a reflection of society. But after watching the ‘filth’ in the name of entertainment, you wonder why would anyone in his or her senses reduce their relationship for whatever its worth on national television? Interestingly, it’s not always the boys who ‘err’ but there are girls too who don’t think twice before two and three-timing their boyfriends. Then there are their concerned parents and friends who express the right emotions as the camera pans on them. They go beep beep (read curse and abuse) and there are angry, violent outbursts, the faint-hearted even collapse while the crew fetches them water without taking the camera off their ‘tragic’ faces even once. And so you have 30 minutes of entertainment (for want of a better word) that is largely targetted at the youth. Ajay Devgn, in the initial episodes, offered some stern words of advice and admonished the couple for taking their relationship for granted and destroying it. The guilty boy hung his head in shame (?), the repentant girl wiped her tears, her angry brother looked into the camera and expressed his gratitude to the show for helping him bring his sister to her senses while the mother mumbled something in Punjabi about how shame was brought upon their family name. End of episode. I wonder what happens to them later. Do they follow different paths or get back together after becoming mini celebrities on TV? Are they shattered forever or do they fall in love again and come back the next season to do yet another loyalty test?Verdict: **The suave Pravesh Rana is the only reason why you just might tolerate this cringe-worthy show.
