With the advent of 3G and the expected growth in smartphone shipments, malware is going to be an increasing concern. SMS spam is already a major nuisance for all phone owners. As more feature-rich models with increasingly sophisticated OSs permeate the enterprise segment, mobile security will soon be a topic that CIOs can ill afford to ignore. It's realistic to expect that a substantial number of those would be used by white collar types in corporate India. That's good news, however, it is an unfortunate fact that smartphones, and the services that tend to be consumed on these devices, are all too often accompanied by a parallel increase in the number of malicious programs used by cyber criminals to make money from mobile device users.
