Looking at the tourists response to Shuttle launch in Florida, it is time that India too develop space tourism in Sriharikota. There is tourism potential of Sriharikota since its the only satellite launching site in India. Satish Dhawan Space Station in Sriharikota has been the site of satellite launch by the Indian space Agency, ISRO. Sriharikota and the surrounding region could very well become Space coast of India. Even though India is not sending man in space, at least for now, there are several satellite launches every year from Sriharikota to keep tourists interested. If tourists gets a permission to enter Satish Dhawan Space Station, they can not only tour the space station but see launching vehicle and pads from much closer distance. As for now, entering the space station is not that easy and tourists who are interested in viewing the satellite launch have to park their vehicles half mile away from the space station Millions in tourism money can be generated which would be helpful to the local economy if India decides to develop tourism in the region. But to do so the nearest town from Sriharikota, Sullurupeta will have to be developed to accommodate tourists.
