Eclipse of the human race


By Adarsh Matham, am afraid I am turning into an insomniac. I mean, if you grew up on sci-fi movies and apocalyptic books like me, you can’t read these headlines and sleep soundly. “Sports articles written by computers”, “Supercomputer predicts revolution”, “Software tricks people into thinking they are human”, “IBM to develop 1,000 times faster computers”. The obvious conclusion from these is that Artificial Intelligence (AI), the science of making intelligent machines, is no longer just good science fiction, but a reality, and within five years or less, we will be meeting machines that are as intelligent as humans, if not more.
