London: The amount of electricity consumed by the search giant Google to run its huge server farms is more than the power required by America’s most populated city of Utah, it has emerged.In a new section on the Google Green site, called “The Big Picture,” it revealed that Google’s data centers use 260 million watts to power YouTube, Gmail and its other services in the internet ‘cloud’.According to tech blog Gizmodo, the search giant’s energy consumption is more than the power required by the Salt Lake City, having a population of 186,440. The data showed that 100 searches on Google.com uses equal power to light a 60 watt bulb for 28 minutes, it said three days of streaming YouTube video requires as much energy as making, packaging and delivering a DVD, the Daily Mail reports.
