By: Mayank Gupta, The Rugby World Cup could provide much needed boost to the New Zealand tourism. Rugby World Cup tourists are expected to spend over $654 million in New Zealand. Majority of the spending will be on bars, shopping, hotels as well marketing on the event and New Zealand cities. All of this will help the New Zealand tourism in the longer term. RWC organizers are expecting around 95,000 visitors during the event. Around 25,000 will come from UK alone. The World Cup will also bring lots of positive media coverage that is much needed for the New Zealand. This will help the country get over with the image of earthquake in Christchurch earlier in the year. Some analyst are expecting long term benefits of the RWC on tourism industry. New Zealand tourism has had disappointed year so far due to Christchurch earthquake followed by the Chilean volcano eruption.
