Uploaded by xprize, Share Link: DP World,Developed and developing nations have electricity transmission problems. Existing grids in developed nations are inadequate to carry the amount of electricity demanded or are ageing resulting in brownouts or blackouts. In addition, renewable sources of electricity are located far from population centers and the current transmission system is inadequate to move that clean electricity to the population centers. Expanding the current grid is difficult and expensive because of the distances they must cover and the amount of contiguous land that must be secured. Developing nations have a different problem -- more than 1 billion people are without electricity, and in many cases no transmission grid exists. This prize would solve the problems of both the developed and developing nations. Much like the adoption of cellular phones bypassed the need to install telephone lines in many locals, the development of wireless power transmission will bypass the need to upgrade or build new transmission lines. Wireless power transmission will allow us to provide renewable electricity to all of the world's people.
