By Gladkov Vladimir, The US State Department has withdrawn two grants, which were won last year by the Russian scientists as part of the Russian Initiative program. While the move is completely unprecedented in the history of the US- Russian scientific partnership, no explanation whatsoever has been given for the decision made by the US officials. While it’s hard to follow the logic of the State Department, the most likely reasons could include either the “closeness” of this research to the military sphere or a desire to “punish” the Russian scientists for their alleged assistance to the Iranian nuclear program. The $2-million grant has been given to Russia to conduct fundamental research in the field of magneto-plasma aerodynamics, which was scheduled for 2011-2014 and was due to be conducted at the United Institute of High Temperatures of the Russian Academy of Sciences. But without any explanation, the US State Department decided to veto the project.Tags: Russian-US relations , Commentary, Society, scientific researches, Russia, World, Читать далее, Source: Voice of Russia.
