Indian Express, Agencies : Jajpur, Odisha, Rasmita Sahu from Odisha has been selected to participate in the Women's World Cup Kabaddi Championship as part of the Indian team. She is the lone Odiya player in the 12-member Indian Kabaddi team. The four-day long Women's World Cup Kabaddi tournament is scheduled to commence from March 1 at the Kankerbagh Sports Complex in Patna. Rashmita (21), hails from a peasant family of Badaniranjanpur village in the district. She started playing Kabaddi during her high school days. Jajpur District Athletic Association has groomed her by providing coaching and introduced her in the district and state level Kabaddi tournaments. "I am really proud of my daughter who has been selected to represent India in the tournament. Belonging to a rural background without adequate coaching and facilities she could rise to such an extent is unbelievable to me and others," said Dyrodhan Sahoo, father of Rashmita. Her coach Purnachadra Sethi is also excited for Rashmita's induction into the team. "I and my team will certainly try to bring glory to our country," said Rashmita. Sixteen countries including the United States, Japan, England, Malaysia, Mexico, Italy, Sri Lanka, Canada, Nepal, Iran, Korea and Thailand are participating in the World Cup Kabaddi event.
