World Environment Day Is Green Economy: Does it include you?

By Dr Garima Sancheti: The  World  Environment   Day  (WED)   is   observed
every year on June 5. It is the occasion when the United Nations creates a worldwide awareness of preserving the environment. It is the day for global action and resolution towards keeping the environment cleaner, greener and healthier. The WED 2012 theme for World Environment Day is Green Economy: Does it include you? According to UNEP, Green Economy includes improved human well-being and social equity, while significantly reducing environmental risks and ecological scarcities. In its simplest expression, a green economy can be thought of as one which is low carbon, resource efficient and socially inclusive. It’s the time to save our environment by preserving the nature and help sustain a green environment. If the Green Economy is about social equity and inclusiveness then technically it is all about us! Let us prevent the biodiversity, reduce pollution, and support tree planting and clean-up campaigns. Let us make this day a success for leading a healthy life ahead. Source Link
