By Sarah Neary: Thousands of physicists are on teams all working toward one goal by utilizing the Large Hadron Collider at CERN (the European Organization for Nuclear Research). Strong evidence points to the high probability that the Higgs boson, also been nicknamed the God Particle is real. Why it’s called the God particle is easy to understand from the get go. “Because everyone was looking for it and no one was finding it,” said Wesley H. Smith, who is a Physics professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison as well as a researcher on the CERN project to find the Higgs boson.This precise particle is said to have the answers we are looking for about essential information connected to the universe and how it was constructed. Theoretically, this particle has been on physicists’ minds since 1964, when the concept of it had been introduced into the scientific community.
