While both men and women enjoy dishing the dirt it appears that there are big differences in the way men and women gossip. Canadian researchers have determined that gossip tends to draw males closer whereas it can tear female friends apart. Moreover, there are huge differences in the way men and women gossip - and it's not as simple as talking about football and politics versus talking about shopping and personal relationships. Physical appearance gossip was found to be more prevalent in females, but it doesn't help with friendship quality.
