The painting "Madonna and Child with the Young Saint John the Baptist" by famous Italian Renaissance painter Sandro Botticelli was auctioned off at "Christie’s" in New York for $10.4 million, exceeding the auction’s top estimate of $7 million.
For 50 years the painting remained in the family of American tycoon John D. Rockefeller, due to which it was dubbed the "Rockefeller Madonna”.
