Physicians of Belgium’s Ghent University have successfully carried out the nation's first face transplant. It took place several weeks ago. The patient and the donor's family have requested anonymity.This was the 19th operation of its kind in the world. Belgium has thus become the third in Europe country after France and Spain to carry out face transplant surgery. It was prepared by a team of experts in the course of three years.
