Star shine at Mijwan show - Trends

Now in its fourth year, Manish Malhotra's charity fashion show titled ‘Men for Mijwan’ was held on April 1 in Mumbai. The gala saw Bollywood’s superstars including Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Ranbir Kapoor, Farhan Akhtar and Sidharth Malhotra walk the ramp in support of a cause. The show is held to help women empowerment in rural India. The charity fashion show is an initiative by the Mijwan Welfare Society, an NGO founded by late poet Kaifi Azmi and now headed by his daughter, actress Shabana Azmi, along
with Namrata Goyal. It aims to highlight the sufferings and struggles of the girl child and women in rural India and raise proceeds to empower women in the region. The grand evening saw stars and models taking to the ramp, showcasing a stunning Chikankari collection by designer Malhotra. Lehengas , kalidars , saris , kurtas and pants for women, and sherwanis with heavy dupattas for men in deeper tones of blues, and a summery colour palette comprising pinks, yellows, greys and pastels were part of his
creations. The evening also saw the presence of several other B-town celebrities and big names, including Jaya Bachchan, Kajol, Susmita Sen, Sonali Bendre, Urmila Matondkar and Dia Mirza. Shabana Azmi was accompanied by husband Javed Akhtar and mother at the event. Young Bollywood actresses Sonakshi Sinha, Parineeti Chopra, Kalki Koechlin, Aditi Rao Hydari, Yami Gautam and Diana Penty were also present at the event. Source: Fashion United
