SEOUL, KOREA - Sony Korea released a brand-new smartphone Xperia Z2 and a smart band SWR 10 in the Korean market. The Korean unit of Sony held a new product launching event at Chosun Hotel in Seoul’s downtown on May 8 where it announced that it will launch pre-order sales for these products. This is the first new product launching event for Sony Korea since it released Xperia Ray three years and eight months ago. Over the past three years, Sony Korea has had a hard time in Korea, which is often called the graveyard of foreign mobile phone brands. In attempting to challenge in the Korean market again, Sony Korea opted for a low-price marketing strategy. Sony Korea set the price of Xperia Z2 at less than 800,000 won. Although it is slightly more expensive than its predecessor model (749,000 won), this price level is not so high considering Xperia Z2’s strengthened specs. Its rival model Samsung Galaxy S5 has a price of 866,800 won. With a thinness of 8.2 mm, Xperia Z2 uses aluminum and reinforced glass materials. It boasts IP58-class waterproof feature, enabling users to use it in water with a depth of 1.5 meters for 30 minutes. Source: Article
