Prof. Nagarajan, Dean, International & Alumni Relations at IIT Madras notes that historically, half of the Award recipients have been India residents, and that the trend continues this year. “It is also heartening that three of the awardees— Shri. Mahajan, Shri. Chivakula and Shri. Vasan—are directing world-class manufacturing centers located in India. It is worth noting also that Dr. Bharat is the 4th Google Fellow to be awarded in the past 4 years—clearly a sign that Google is powered by IITM minds!” When making the announcement, Prof. Bhaskar Ramamurthi, Director, IIT Madras remarked, “It is not an easy job restricting the recipients of this award to only 10 considering the accomplishments of many of our alumni. I am proud that the recipients of the awards are from diverse fields and are not restricted to engineering alone.”Source: Article
