At least 10 Nigerian troops were killed and one was taken hostage in clashes with IS-linked jihadists in the Borno state locating northeast of the West African country Nigeria. The terrorists also snatched four vehicles including a truck and an armored vehicle, two security sources said.
The clashes erupted on Monday when troops raided a camp belonging to Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) in Alagarno village in Damboa district.
“We lost 10 soldiers in the fight and one was taken by the terrorists,” a security source told AFP on Tuesday.
“It was an intense battle and the terrorists also suffered casualties but they were able to overwhelm the soldiers,” said a second security source. Alagarno, locating at 150 kilometers (90 miles) from regional capital Maiduguri, is a stronghold of ISWAP. Source:https://www.daily-bangladesh.com
