18 coal miners die in China underground gas leak


18 miners have died and five others are missing after a carbon monoxide gas leak at the Diaoshuidong cole mine in Chongqing municipality, located in the southwest of China, on Friday.

The accident occurred while workers were dismantling underground equipment which was closed for two months, reports Chinese state media CCTV. 

According to CCTV, one person was rescued from the coal mine. An investigation has been launched into the incident.Mine collapse incidents in China is common due to poor safety regulations. Earlier in September, 16 workers were killed at another mine collapse incident on the outskirts of Chongqing when a conveyor belt caught fire, producing high levels of carbon monoxide. Source: https://www.daily-bangladesh.com/
