US Attorney General William Barr on Monday announced that he would resign next week before Christmas. President Donald Trump also confirmed the matter of Barr’s resignation.
“Just had a very nice meeting with Attorney General Bill Barr at the White House. Our relationship has been a very good one, he has done an outstanding job! Bill will be leaving just before Christmas to spend the holidays with his family,” Trump tweeted.
Tensions between Trump and Barr erupted after he said there was no evidence of widespread deception in November’s election.
In addition, he was criticized by President Trump for not publicly disclosing that the justice department was investigating Joe Biden’s son during the campaign.Meanwhile, Attorney General William Barr’s term was due to end when Trump leaves office on 20 January.
