US aircraft arrived in India with medical supplies as part of emergency assistance. The aircraft, named C-17 Globemaster, departed from Travis Air Force Base in California with emergency assistance, landed at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport on Friday morning.
The oxygen crisis in Delhi’s hospitals has been going on for some time. Many patients die due to oxygen shortage. In the last 24 hours, another 395 people have died of COVID in Delhi, the highest in a single day. Another 24,235 people detected by the virus in a day in the state. With this, the number of Covid-19 patients undergoing treatment there is 97,977.
The plane, which arrived in India on Friday morning, contained more than 400 oxygen cylinders, RT-PCR test kits for COVID detection tests and other emergency equipment needed for COVID treatment at the hospital, Indian media NDTV reported.
USAID also sent 960,000 rapid diagnostic test kits and 100,000 N-95 masks to front-line health workers in India.
Earlier, two Russian cargo planes arrived in India on Thursday morning with emergency humanitarian aid. The two Russian aircraft supplied 20 oxygen concentrators, 75 ventilators, 150 bedside monitors and medicines in India.
It is learned that Japan has also announced to stand by India in this difficult time. Satoshi Suzuki, the country’s ambassador to India, said his country was sending 300 oxygen generators and 300 ventilators.The European Union (EU) country Romania has sent 80 oxygen concentrators and 75 oxygen cylinders. The United Kingdom has already sent COVID relief to India with oxygen cylinders. Besides, every country, including Bangladesh, has promised to stand by India in this difficult time.
